The college basketball season has officially come to an end, and this is one that Nebraska fans will never forget. The Huskers made so much history this season under head coach Fred Hoiberg, from the greatest start in program history to the first-ever NCAA Tournament win.
While the season ended earlier than the Huskers would have liked in the Sweet 16, there is no reason for this team to hang its head. Now with the season as a whole over, Hoiberg has given his team some time to rest and recover, but he is ready to hit the ground running.
The Transfer Portal officially opens today, and so far, Nebraska hasn't been hit with any tough departures, and Hoiberg is ready to build for next season. Hoiberg knows that slowing down isn't going to help Nebraska at all and is ready to build on the momentum started this season.
"We can't wait five, six, seven years for this to happen again," Hoiberg said. "I feel really good about where we're at going into the offseason, and I'm confident that we will add some very important pieces so we can be in the same situation where we're competing for a Big Ten Championship."

Fred Hoiberg already knows exactly what will need to be replaced for Nebraska next season
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that Nebraska is losing some key pieces this season, and Hoiberg is going to have to put in the work to replace them. Players like Sam Hoiberg, Jamarques Lawrence, and Rienk Mast are players who certainly won't be coming back, while other players like Pryce Sandfort have some NBA decisions to make.
The Transfer Portal is now officially open, and Hoiberg will now have the success under his belt to lure players to Lincoln. If Hoiberg can build a team from the portal like he did last season, the Huskers know the sky is the limit.
