Fred Hoiberg and his squad are one of three perfect teams in college basketball right now with a 17-0 record. This is the best season thus far by a Nebraska basketball team ever and there is still a lot of season left to go.

It is not like the Cornhuskers had just the easy non-conference schedule to set up a solid record before heading into Big Ten play; they took down other power conference teams to get here. With wins over Oklahoma, Kansas State, and Creighton, the Cornhuskers set themselves up with a great resume before hitting conference play.

When it comes to conference play, the Huskers already took down No. 13 Illinois on their home court as well as squeaked out a close one against No. 9 Michigan State. It took a big comeback, but Nebraska also showed Indiana that they truly are a football school now with a win in Assembly Hall, and their most recent win over Oregon showed truly how dominant this team is.

Nebraska basketball is raising eyebrows and proving its for real under Fred Hoiberg

Hoiberg spoke to the media before the Huskers' upcoming matchup against Northwestern and talked about this special team and even said that he is hearing a lot from former players and alumni talking about how much they love this team and love the way they play.

"I've gotten a lot of messages from former players just saying how much they enjoy watching us," Hoiberg said. "A lot of it is because they're diving on the floor and passing and taking care of the ball and physicality, so it's been fun to see messages from your alumni or former players, and that's an important part of it, and at the end of the day, that's what its all about."

Good teams are fun to watch, but great teams are a must-watch, and Nebraska is a great team and has people anxiously awaiting to watch them and see how far they can take this. Right now, Nebraska, Arizona, which is the No. 1 team in the country, and Miami (Ohio) are the only undefeated teams in the country.

There is still a lot of basketball left to be played, and the Cornhuskers have some tough opponents coming up, but they have put themselves in a great spot to get a favorable seed come March.
