Sam Hoiberg's story just might go down as one of the best in Nebraska basketball history. From being a walk-on never expecting to play to being such an integral part of a team that made history this season, as well as being the coach's son who worked harder than anyone, Hoiberg is one name many will remember for years to come.
Nebraska's season heartbreakingly came to an end on Thursday night after a devastating loss ot Iowa in the Sweet 16. The game was well in hand for Nebraska, but one mistake with a minute left on the clock was too much to overcome for the Huskers; thus ended the season and some Husker careers.
Hoiberg is one who saw his Nebraska career and potentially basketball career come to an end on Thursday night. It is sad and heartbreaking, but hearing how his teammates, like Cale Jacobsen, speak about what Hoiberg meant to this program means everything to Nebraska fans. It is clear that Hoiberg is leaving a massive hole on the roster.
"You have seen how every single year he has taken the jump," Jacobsen said. "Even after the game today, he was like 'it's your [Jacobsen] turn to take that next jump.'"

Cale Jacobsen and Sam Hoiberg's relationship is one that will be missed on the court
It is believeable that Jacobsen and Hoiberg were close on this Nebraska team, listening to how Jacobsen spoke about Hoiberg. The two were each other's biggest supporters, and Jacobsen even said the toughest thing about the season ending will be not getting to see Hoiberg every day.
The kind of brotherhood this Nebraska team showed proved why it was such a historic season. When a team is as close as the Huskers are, it is easy to play good basketball together.
Now, there will be decisions to be made going forward on which guys will stick around and which will choose to head to the NBA or even the transfer portal. It seems like Jacobsen will be staying in a Husker uniform next season with the encouragement from Hoiberg.
