A few weeks into spring ball for Nebraska, the Huskers are looking good, at least that is what the players are saying. With a lot of new faces on this year's team, Matt Rhule has a lot of players to pick from, the most important being the quarterback position.
With the transfer of Dylan Raiola to Oregon in the offseason, Nebraska will be heading into a new era at the quarterback position. There are two top choices for Rhule right now, the first being veteran TJ Lateef, who stepped in for Raiola when he was injured midway through the 2025 season, the second being transfer Anthony Colandrea from UNLV.
While many of the players have supported Lateef in his pursuit to become the starter at Nebraska, wide receiver Jacory Barney is loving what Colandrea is doing on the field.
"The swag he [Colandrea] is different," Barney said during media availability. "I feel like be bring another aspect of confidence to the offense, him just letting us know he is going to do whatever it takes for us to take that next step."
"The swag he has is different."

Barney is not the only person impressed by Colandrea, as offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen has also loved what he has seen from the UNLV transfer. Holgorsen even feels like the playbook has opened with Colandrea under center.
While there is still a battle to be had between Colandrea and Lateef, having the respect of the guys around you is something every quarterback needs. Both guys clearly are liked amongst the team, but ultimately, the one who can help Nebraska get wins and take that step forward is the one Rhule will go with in the end.
