Another Nebraska shakeup as recruiting staffer exits the program

Vincent's exit adds to a growing list of changes inside the program.

It turns out that John Butler isn't the only member of the Nebraska football program no longer employed by the Huskers. Troy Vincent Jr., who has been with head coach Matt Rhule since his arrival in Lincoln is leaving to take another job.

Vincent was in his third season at Nebraska overall, but his first in the role of Director of Player Personnel. He was hired at Nebraska in Matt Rhule’s first year with the program, before the 2023 season as a special teams analyst, directly assisting then-special teams coordinator Ed Foley. In 2024, he moved to an off-field role, named Director of Football Relations, and then took over the role of Director of Player Personnel last offseason.

Vincent's most significant role with Nebraska in his most recent position was as the Huskers' high school and NFL liaison.

Troy Vincent Jr.’s departure adds to Nebraska’s growing offseason turnover

Prior to his time at Nebraska, Vincent served as defensive pass game coordinator and director of college recruiting at Paulding County (Ga.) High School. Vincent was selected and participated in the 2023 NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Fellowship, where he served as a defensive back assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders.

At the moment, there's no indication where the son of a famed NFL defensive back might be headed, but it appears he's leaving the Huskers of his own volition for a new position elsewhere.

After John Butler was fired as defensive coordinator earlier Monday, there was talk that Nebraska was planning other moves. Losing a recruiting staffer certainly counts, but it seems unlikely this was the move that was generating so many whispers.
