John Cook announced his retirement from the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team on Wednesday evening. Moments later, at least one analyst knew exactly what he should do next and it involves starting a brand new career.
It’s likely that when the Big Ten Network’s Emily Ehman came up with the idea that Cook needs to turn into a broadcaster along the lines of Nick Saban when it comes to football analyst, there were plenty of people who thought she was onto something.
“Okay hear me out.... #NCAAWVB College Gameday and John Cook joins the show???” Ehman wrote on Twitter about the recently retired Nebraska Cornhuskers’ head coach. “John Cook might even be better TV than Nick Saban idk.”

Retired Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach could already have a path for his next career
Cook surprised many in the Nebraska Volleyball fan base when he announced he was stepping down. To outsiders, the announcement seemed like it was rather sudden and out of nowhere.
Of course, just a few moments later, the Huskers announced a replacement, in Dani Busboom Kelly and it became clear that this whole thing was planned out rather well.
The Nebrasak Cornhuskers kept some rather big secrets under their hats. One has to wonder just how long this thing has been planned out. Certainly the departure of Jordan Larson on Monday says that there were people who knew what was happening. And yet, while there were inklings here and there that John Cook might be near the end of his road, the way they handled his retirement was quite impressive.
