3 reasons why CJ Bronaugh's addition to Nebraska Football is massive
It's always nice when the Nebraska football team can get a bit of a shock commitment from a target that had largely been going under the radar. Such an occurence went down on Tuesday night when the Huskers landed 3-star defensive back CJ Bronaugh.
Tim Verghese of Rivals was the first to break the news of Bronaugh's commitment. It seems as though very few people realized he was this close to pulling the trigger, considering how quiet things had been. There were no Crystal Balls or other recruiting predictions that he was pulling the trigger for NU, or that he woudl do it before Thanksgiving.
He committed to Nebraska football after visiting elsewhere
The Nebraska football team pulled the 2026 prospect from Windermere, Florida away from some solid schools. He picked NU over Oklahoma, Indiana, Penn State and Florida State among others.
However, it's the fact that he just got back from a visit to Syracuse, and yet chose the Cornhuskers that stands out. The Orange are seeing a resurgence under first year head coach Fran Brown and their recruiting has shown that. But Matt Rhule won the day.
He's a speed burning ballhawk
The 2026 prospect Boasts a 10.3 in the 100-meter dash. He was able to use that speed to record six interceptions in the seven games he played in 2024. Someone who can play the ball and has the speed to stay with top receivers is definitely something that Matt Rhule and company are quite excited about.
He's the third commit of the 2026 class
Bronaugh is part of a 2026 class that is slowly but surely growing. He's the first defensive player on the list too.
Bronaugh joins Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte a wide receiver out of South Dakota and a familiar name in Dayton Raiola, the younger brother of star quarterback Dylan Raiola. The Nebraska football team was 36th in the class coming into today. It will be interesting to see where they jump to with CJ Bronaugh's addition.
