Nebraska Football: Analyst says ‘no way’ should QBs play for Satterfield
Now that the Nebraska football season is over, the debate over Marcus Satterfield can really begin and one analyst believes he’s a net negative.
Now that the Huskers season is over, it’s time to start dreaming about 2024. Right at the top of most Nebraska football fans’ wishlist is a new quarterback.
At the very least, they would like to bring in someone who could compete with Chubba Purdy and Daniel Kaelin for the starting job next fall. If there is something higher on the wishlist than quarterback for quite a few Nebraska fans, it would be a new offensive coordinator.
Many fans are ready to move on from OC Marcus Satterfield, even if head coach Matt Rhule has made it clear he won’t. At least one college football analyst believes that Rhule’s steadfast devotion to his assistant coach is a bad thing. Especially if the Cornhuskers want to go out and get themselves a new top-of-the-line quarterback this offseason.
"“No way in hell I would sign up to play QB for Satterfield but Nebraska does have money so.”"
247Sports analyst Bud Elliott wrote that comment on Twitter in response to a Nebraska football fan asking if he thinks the Huskers have a shot at nay high level quarterback transfers.
It’s worth pointing out that Elliott doesn’t have a any direct interactions with Satterfield. This isn’t a situation where the analyst covered the South Carolina Gamecocks and carries around a bushel of sour grapes with him because of it.
Elliott’s main focus is the Florida State Seminoles. So this appears to be a genuine dislike for Satterfield’s approach to football.
Nebraska football OC gets flamed by analyst
As has been pointed out around Husker Nation, it’s possible that Satterfield could end up keeping a job on the Nebraska football staff but lose either his playcalling duties, or get moved to full time tight ends coach. The Huskers would then go out and hire a quarterbacks coach.
With the offseason just a few days old, there’s plenty of time to find out.
