Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive back Marques Buford is back, but how will his team make it so that he can appear in a bowl game and keep his redshirt?

There is a chance it can be done. And there’s more than a few guys on the team who might be in Buford’s shoes. It’s clear that now that the talented defensive back has returned, the Nebraska Football coaches want to make sure he doesn’t lose a year of eligibility.

With just three games left in the regular season, if the Huskers don’t make a bowl, it’s not an issue. Any player can appear in four games and keep their year of eligibility.

However, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are hoping to have at least five games left in the campaign and that means there needs to be a bit of of dealmaking to be done.

As Mitch Sherman of The Athletic pointed out on Tuesday, there is a chance that Buford could play in the bowl and not lose a year. In order to do that, the NCAA would have to issue a similar waiver to what they did last season.

Last time, the waiver wasn’t issued until right before bowl season. So it could be a bit of a wait before we find out a final verdict.

Nebraska Cornhuskers add preferred walkon

2024 athlete Connor Schutt has signed on with the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a preferred walkon.

The Bishop Neumann athlete isn’t only open to being what’s known as a Grey Shirt. He’s also open to whatever position the Nebraska Cornhuskers coaches are wanting him to play. According to On3’s Bryan Munson, he’s open to whatever the coaches want.

Schutt has played quite a bit of quarterback in high school, but it’s clear that may not be his path in Lincoln. Stay tuned to see how and where he ends up.

Big Ten war continues

The Big Ten conference is entering an era of unprecedented growth and prosperity. However, it looks like they’re also in-fighting at a level that’s rarely been seen.

Earlier this week, it became apparent that many teams in the B1G wanted commissioner Tony Petitti to take action against the Wolverines. On Tuesday, Michigan went on the offensive and claimed that a few other schools have been doing something similar to what UM has done.

While those claims have some holes in them, it’s clear that things are going to get worse before they get better.
