The Nebraska Cornhuskers Volleyball team suffered a very rare loss on Wednesday afternoon when Ayden Ames decommitted and chose Texas instead.

The Nebraska Volleyball team hasn’t lost even once this season on the court. John Cook hasn’t suffered many losses in recruiting either. That’s why it’s always a bit of a shock when he does suffer a loss, especially one as big as Ayden Ames.

Ames, a 6-foot-4 middle blocker from Prosper, Texas, announced her commitment to Texas on social media on Wednesday morning. She had committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers last summer, not long after Cook was first allowed to offer players in her recruiting class.

It stands to reason that at least one factor for why Ames had a change of heart, is because the Nebraska Cornhuskers are quite young and talented. Each’s of the Huskers’ middle blockers from this season are set to return — current sophomores Bekka Allick and Maggie Mendelson and freshman Andi Jackson.

The Ames decommitment, one week before signing day is one that stings a bit for Husker fans, but NU is currently ranked #1 in the country. So the crying is going to be quite limited over this spilled milk.

Nebraska Football favored to land defensive back

While the volleyball team suffered a recruiting loss, it appears the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team could be in line for a big win. The Huskers are going head-to-head against Maryland for 3-star Miami, Florida defensive back Larry Tarver.

At the moment, he’s a commit to the Terapins, though recruiting analysts believe he’s eventually going to recommit from that school. When he does that, it’s expected he’ll give his pledge to the Huskers.

That could come at any moment.
