Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule showed his usual class when he was offered a chance to throw dirt on Jim Harbaugh’s grave.

If there has been one staple of the Matt Rhule era of Nebraska football, it’s that the Huskers head coach thinks before he speaks. He’s careful in what he says and as of yet, hasn’t ever really misspoke.

That’s a rarer quality among college football coaches than you’d think. All you need to do is watch a video of Clemson coach Dabo Swinney joking about suicide this weekend after a loss to understand that.

Knowing Rhule a little bit at this point, it should come as no surprise that when the Nebraska football coach was asked about what’s going on with an ever-growing Michigan scouting/sign-stealing scandal, he took the high road. And he did it in a way that made it clear that he was still able to shoot a bit of side-eye at Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh.

Instead of talking about what he thinks about a Michigan coach scouting teams in person, including, it would certainly appear the Nebraska football team, which goes against NCAA rules, he talked about wanting there to be microphones installed in helmets.

"“There 100% should be. You can get rid of all the stupid signs on the sidelines and the pictures of rock stars and all that stuff, and just play football. You go to a high school game, there’s technology on the sideline. You go to a NFL game, there’s technology on the sideline. You go to college, there’s nothing.”"

Nebraska football coach takes shot without taking shot

First things first. Rhule is right. There’s no reason why there isn’t the same kind of tech at the college level that there is in the NFL. It’s not like it’s too expensive. Even the smallest FBS programs should be able to afford it at this point.

Secondly, I love that Rhule took a little shot at what Michigan was able to do without doing it obviously.

Clearly he thinks it’s silly that Michigan was able to do what they did. He’s in favor of making sure they can’t do it again. At least the sign stealing part.

But the Nebraska football coach didn’t whine or cry about Michigan breaking the rules. Instead he took the high road, didn’t offer up anything that could make negative headlines and said his peace. In the process, it was another refreshing chapter in the Matt Rhule regime.
