Matt Rhule’s recent comments about how Iowa wins ball games has made Hawkeyes fans join Nebraska football nation on Rhule’s bandwagon.

When the entire rest of the country was talking about how Iowa keeps winning ugly, leave it to the man in charge of one of the Hawkeyes’ chief rivals to come to their defense. The Nebraska football head coach wanted everyone to know that he thinks the way Iowa gets things done is actually beautiful.

Rhule commented about the Iowa-Wisconsin game during his Monday press conference and immediately got Iowa fans on board.

"“I just think there is always the narrative out there, people watch the Iowa-Wisconsin game and say it’s a bad football game or it’s an ugly football game. I think it’s a beautiful defensive football game.”"

Rhule went on to applaud the way Iowa is doing things, likely because at the moment, Nebraska football is doing things similarly.

"“Iowa is on its way to having another great year. People are making a big deal about how many points they score. They’re scoring one more than their opponent most games.”"

Nebraska football head coach has some new Iowa fans

Rhule knows a thing or two about fans valuing style points over wins, thanks to the way the Nebraska football team knocked off the Illinois Fighting Illini the Friday night before their bye.

While the Huskers dominated most of the second half and won 20-7, there were plenty of complaints about “missed opportunities.”

When the Nebraska football head coach was defending Iowa’s wins, he was really defending his own. But that doesn’t mean he didn’t collect some fans anyway.

There were some Iowa fans who even admitted they were a bit nervous about his comments, because it showed he actually knows what he’s doing.

Please make no mistake, it won’t take long for Hawkeyes fans to decide they hate Rhule again. After all, we’re only a little over a month away from Nebraska football and Iowa facing off on Black Friday and there’s at least a small chance that game might be for the Big Ten West crown.
