Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Matt Rhule blasts refs, more
Nebraska Cornhuskers football head coach Matt Rhule was not happy at all about the things the refs allowed Illinois to do on Friday night.
While Nebraska Cornhuskers head coach Matt Rhule was certainly happy that his team was able to beat the Illinois Fighting Illini, he knows the Huskers were far from perfect. While he’s willing to own some of the mistakes they made, he was rather hot on Friday night about the number of pre-snap penalties his team was assessed.
After the game, Rhule made it clear that one of the reasons the Huskers amassed so many penalties was that Illinois was yelling at the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team, making them jump.
Rhule said that this isn’t the first game he’s seen it happen this year. He said it was being done by Michigan as well.
The Nebraska football head coach said that he talked to the league office and they said it wasn’t allowed. Knowing that, he’s a bit confused why the Illini were permitted to do so. This could be an interesting storyline moving forward.
Nebraska Cornhuskers gymnast going to the Olympics
Nebraska women’s gymnastics star Csenge Bácskay is heading to the Paris Olympics in 2024. A sophomore from Budapest, Hungary will be representing her native country on the vault.
Bácskay clinched the invite to the Olympics by placing 8th In the 2023 Artistic World Gymnastics Championships vault event finals on Saturday.
The Opening Ceremonies of the Paris Olympics will take place on Friday, July 26.
Matt Rhule off to best college start
While Nebraska Cornhuskers fans aren’t thrilled that the Huskers are just 3-3, it should be pointed out that this is technically the best start in Year 1 of a Rhule-coached college team.
When he took over Temple, he needed 13 games to get to three wins. At Baylor, it took him 14 games. It took only six with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
There’s been a lot of talk that Year 1 in Lincoln would look more like Year 2 at the other places. That appears to be the case.
