The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team suffered another little setback on Monday night when defensive back Javier Morton entered the portal.

It hasn’t been a great week so far for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team. There was the 45-7 loss to Michigan and then there was the talk about how listless the Huskers looked in that game.

Then on Monday night, the Huskers found out they were down a defensive back. Javier Morton, a reserve DB who played in two games for Nebraska this season, announced he was headed to the transfer portal.

It’s a bit of a surprise move, considering where the team is in the season. It would seem likely that he might have gotten into academic or team rules trouble in order to be wanting to leave the team in the middle of the season.

Maybe he just decided he’d had enough of the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball take home awards

Following another 2-0 weekend, the Huskers’ volleyball team got quite a bit of recognition. Merritt Beason was named Big Ten Player of the Week, Bergen Reilly is Co-Setter of the Week in the Big Ten and Harper Murray is Freshman of the Week again.

It does feel like a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team getting this kind of honor is becoming the norm.

Nebraska football depth chart released

The Nebraska football team released its official depth chart for the game against Illinois and there are a few changes that are noteworthy.

The first is that Heinrich Haarberg is listed as the starter, even if he’s got an OR next to his name. It would seem his play in games and during practice has the Cornhuskers coaches thinking he might be taking the job from Jeff Sims.

There’s also Josh Fleeks, who was a wide receiver until last week, being named the backup running back. His 74-yard dash against Michigan likely had a lot to do with that.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team is also going to be without Luke Reimer and DeShon Singleton against Illinois, though Rhule did say that Reimer is out of the hospital after a scare on Saturday morning.
