The Nebraska football team is four wins away from being bowl-eligible, and at least one analyst believes they will make it.

Granted, only one analyst at ESPN believing the Nebraska football team is going bowling isn’t great. But at least some people believe the Huskers will be able to get four more wins this season.

The how and the why aren’t really covered by the Week 4 Bowl Projections from Kyle Bonagura
Mark Schlabach. They’re a little too big-picture for that sort of thing.

I will say that I agree that there are at least four more wins to be had on the Nebraska football schedule. It’s not going to be easy. The offense is still a mess, and the defense’s only real test, against Colorado, is more of an incomplete than anything.

Nebraska football in the Quiklane Bowl?

It’s also worth pointing out that based on where Schlabach has predicted the Huskers will go, four more wins is about the most we can hope to ask for. The ESPN writer believes that the Cornhuskers are bowling the day after Christmas.

It’s almost ironic that the team they’ll be playing, according to his predictions, is the Ohio Bobcats. Two teams, once coached by Frank Solich, facing off around Christmas is a Hallmark movie in the making.

According to these sets of projections, the two teams will be facing off in the Quicklane Bowl. It’s hardly one of the bigger bowls the Cornhuskers used to play in, but beggars can’t be choosers now.

After six straight years of missing the postseason entirely, Nebraska football playing in a minor bowl is still a big win. It’s still a big step in the right direction. It’s something for Matt Rhule and company to set their sights on.

The step after that for Nebraska football is not having to watch and wait and chew fingernails to see if they get to six wins.
