The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team just keeps on rolling with a Big Ten opening sweep, while a former Husker got some very good news.

10-0. A very special Nebraska Cornhuskers season just continues to roll right along.

John Cook’s squad is still undefeated overall and now has started the Big Ten season 1-0 thanks to a straight sets sweep of #21 Ohio State.

It was the Huskers first sweep of the Buckeyes since 2019 and John Cook’s squad is now off to its best start to a season since 2016. That season ended with Nebraska in the NCAA Champioships. We’ll ignore they lost to Texas to finish the season.

Merritt Beason was once again one of the heroes with a match-high 14 kills while hitting .478. The junior opposite hitter also added eight digs and a pair of aces. Bergen Reilly led the way with 36 set assists as the Nebraska Cornhuskers had very little drama until the third set.

They had to rally 25-14, 25-16 and then 25-21 in order to close out the 3-7 Ohio State squad.

Trey McGowens repping Nebraska Cornhuskers at World Cup

A former Husker player will make his debut for Team USA, as Trey McGowens has been selected to play in the 2023 FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup, which tips off next week.

The US is playing in the event for the first time since 2019. McGowens will be part of a group that plays in Lublin, Poland, from Sept. 27-Oct. 1.

The 2023 World Cup will stream live on YouTube.  McGowens will be joined on the four-member USA team by Matthew Hurt, Jalen Lecque and Bryce Wills.

Soccer keeps rolling

The Nebraska soccer team just kept rolling right along on what can only be described as a dream season so far. On Thursday evening, the Huskers improved to 7-1-2 (1-0-1 Big Ten) with a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers not only won 2-1 but held OSU to just one shot on goal. the hero, as has been the case for most of the season was Junior Sarah Weber, who netted one goal each half.
