One former Nebraska Cornhuskers star is going to miss part of the 2023 NFL season while another just got called up to the big leagues.
Ochaun Mathis might have only been a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers for one season, but now that he’s on the next level the Nebraska football is hoping they can point to him as a product of the program. However, if they’re going to point to him as a success story, they’re going to have to wait a little bit.
The Los Angeles Rams rookie is going to be sitting out a while. The Rams announced that he’ll be on the IL after missing all of the preseason with a knee injury.
The way Mathis went on the IL means that he can play again later this year. In fact, he’ll be able to return after the first four weeks of the season. One can hope that the 6th round pick can then make enough of an impact to stick with the team.
Nebraska Cornhuskers star gets the call
Michael Mariot was just about to call his professional baseball career done and over with. Then he got the call from the Cincinnati Reds.
Mariot, who pitched for the Nebraska baseball team from 2008 to 2010 talked about his journey a bit after his first Major League outing on Tuesday.
Mariot’s 2.2 innings pitched were mostly successful as he allowed just one run. It looks like he’s going to get more shots.
Nebraska basketball releases the roster
The Nebraska football team has obviously been the focus of late August and early September, but it’s not going to be too long until Hoiberg’s Heroes tip off their seasons. To that end, the Nebrasketball team released it’s official roster.
There weren’t any real surprises but it goes to show that we’re not far away from seeing what Hoiberg has to offer in what could be a make or break season.
Clock rules hated
Anyone who watched the Nebraska football game against Minnesota likely noticed that the game felt like it went a little too fast. That’s because the NCAA adopted new clock rules.
It turns out that almost no coaches in college football actually like the new changes. It doesn’t seem like the Nebraska Cornhuskers coaches liked them much either.
Unfortunately, we’re all stuck with those rules for now. Though hopefully they’ll get changed before next season.
