The hype around Colorado is getting out of control to the point where analysts are going out of their way to insult Nebraska football ahead of Saturday.

There was a time, not all that long ago, when the Huskers were heavy favorites to win on September 9. Then Nebraska football lost 13-10 to Minnesota and Colorado beat 17th ranked TCU 45-42.

Suddenly, everyone believes the Buffs are one of the best teams in the country. And it appears Keyshwn Johnson believes Nebraska football is one of the worst.

During a recent Fox Sports talk show, the usual shock jocks were trying extra hard to shock Nebraska football fans, apparently. Johnson was asked about his view on the game between Colorado and the Huskers and didn’t hold back.

Johnson first talked about how Deion Sanders and company are playing in front of a sold out stadium. He didn’t mention one of the biggest reasons the game is sold out is because of all the Cornhuskers fans coming to Boulder.

After hyping up how many people are going to be in the stadium, Johnson really went to work.

Nebraska football sorry and slow?

"“I watched Nebraska against Minnesota. Nebraska’s sorry man, Nebraska’s slow and sorry. They not gonna be able to keep up. As far as the Big Ten goes, the matchup … Ohio State with all that speed against Nebraska. Think that for Colorado.”"

Setting aside that Johnson never really arrived at a complete sentence in that review of Nebraska football, it doesn’t seem like he actually “watched” the game between the Huskers and Minnesota. While Nebraska lost to Minnesota, they also left about 14 points on the field. They also played very solid defense once coordinator Tony White made his adjustments.

I’m not the only one who thinks so either. Former Nebraska football player Chancellor Brewington dissected the comments Johnson made on his own, new podcast. In doing so, he made it clear why the analyst seemed to color his comments with some hard bias.

Brewington started out calling the Fox analyst’s take “terrible” before explaining that the Husker defense has some versatile linebackers that are “not slow by no means.”

He added the Huskers have a solid front and some very good DBs. That last was demonstrated in particular by DeShon Singleton’s showing.

Brewington did admit that Colorado’s offense is the best part of their team. However, the Buffs defense isn’t very good. That’s why he believes Saturday’s matchup isn’t a situation where the Nebraska football team should waive the white flag.
