Nebraska football recruiting efforts could end up winning a big-time offensive line prospect if he pulls the trigger earlier than experts thought.

While Nebraska football recruiting has been on fire in 2023, you might have noticed that its hit a bit of a lull. It’s not that the coaches have suddenly lost their mojo. It just so happens this is the quiet time for most of the college football world.

However, Nebraska football and the rest of the sport is about to ramp up big time when it comes to recruiting and there is one player that could definitely supercharge the restart. Offensive lineman Brandon Baker would in fact be similar to an A-bomb being dropped on the recruiting world if he committed to the Huskers.

Baker could set that bomb off earlier than expected. It could even be right after he pays a visit to Lincoln and sees exactly what Nebraska football has to offer.

According to 247Sports, Baker could be making his decision in the next month or two. That is a sped up timeline from what the 5-star offensive lineman out of Santa Ana said previously. The belief was that he might take his decision all the way up to December’s signing day.

Nebraska football has some catching up to do

“I have my official visit to Nebraska set for Sept. 16 and that will likely be my final visit,” Baker said recently. “After that trip, I’ll sit down and evaluate all my options, try and get down to a final five and then go from there.”

In truth, it seems as though Baker has his final three already set. Most recruiting analysts believe the Texas Longhorns have surged into the lead for his services, with the Oregon Ducks a close second.

At the moment, Nebraska football is running in third place. But there’s that visit in September.

The last visit. Matt Rhule and company get an opportunity to make a lasting impression. Don’t count this staff out when given that kind of opportunity.
