One of the newest Nebraska Cornhuskers players, Chief Borders is making himself right at home in Lincoln and over the weekend, he took on the role of a ref.

Linebacker Chief Borders hasn’t been in Lincoln all that long, but the former Florida Gators transfer said before that he feels like this is where hew as always meant to be. And he’s definitely making himself fell at home by participating in events like the Next Level Flag Football camp.

Borders wasn’t a player or coach for this particular event. Instead, he put on the pinstripes and was a ref, helping to show young kids how to play the game correctly and within the rules.

As Chase Matteson of 1011 News in Lincoln said, Borders also showed off his unique personality while he was reffing at the camp.

Future Nebraska Cornhuskers star’s team gets dealt a loss

Incoming freshman Jessica Petrie and Australia lost to host nation Spain 83-68 in their opening game of the 2023 FIBA U19 Women’s Cup. Not a particularly great start, but the team has several more games ahead of them before the tournament is over.

The good news for Petrie is that even if she’s not able to help her squad to success in this particular tournament, she’s at least got the upcoming Nebraska Cornhuskers season to look forward to.

This Shanle loves Rhule

Back in February, we talked about how the Shanle family might have a civil war brewing. Scott Shale has made it clear that he’s not yet all that impressed by the Matt Rhule hire. Meanwhile, Scott’s younger brother Andrew feels the exact opposite.

Among the things that Andrew is happy about, according to Steve Sipple, is that Rhule hired Dr. Susan Elza.

"“Coach Rhule has a great group of guys around him, and Dr. Elza adds to that as far as relationships. She’s very personable. Every time you heard her speak, you got the sense that she’s very down to earth. If you ever hear her speak, you know she’s someone you can just walk up to and say ‘Hi’ and have a good conversation.”"

Here’s hoping the Nebraska Cornhuskers prove the elder Shanle wrong this season.
