The Nebraska Cornhuskers might have the kind of secret weapon that the Big Ten hasn’t seen coming but might get blown up when Zavier Betts is unleashed.

When the 2023 season kicks off, Zavier Betts will once again be a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. There was definitely a time when I didn’t think I’d be writing a sentence like that. It seemed like he had moved on with his life and the Nebraska football team had moved on with theirs.

The Matt Rhule came to town, Zavier Betts decided he wanted to give his home state team one more shot and the rest is history. Except that there’s still quite a bit of history yet to write.

Sam McKewon of the Omaha World-Herald recently wrote that not only is Betts back, but he feels as though he’s better than ever, especially in the speed department. McKewon also wrote that Betts being “all-in” for Matt Rhule might be something Nebraska football foes soon learn to regret.

Jaz Shelley with NBA Summer League

Nebraska women’s basketball player Jaz Shelley is getting some seasoning for when her playing days are over. The Australin import is participating in the second annual SALA Series at the NBA Summer League this week in Las Vegas.

This particular event works to connect young athletes with NBA and professional executives in interactive seminars. The goal is to prepare these players for a job in pro sports once they’re out of college. It’s the second straight year Shelley has taken part.

Former Nebraska Cornhuskers QB gets big job

Former Nebraska football quarterback Garth Glissman got himself a very nice job this week. He was named NBA VP of Basketball Operations, as SEC Associate Commissioner for Men’s Basketball.

Seems like a heck of a promotion from a former Nebraska Cornhuskers player.
