Nebraska football vs current ACC teams

The fact of the matter is that there aren’t many ACC teams the Huskers have played all that much. So it shouldn’t be surprising that there are just three teams from the conference they’ve beaten ever time they’ve faced them.

North Carolina: NU has taken on the Tar Heels exactly once time in the two schools’ existence. That in and of itself is rather amazing when you think about how long both programs have operated. It’s been decades since the matchup as well. The schools met in the 1977 Liberty Bowl, and the Nebraska football team took home a 21-17 victory thanks to two late touchdown passes by Randy Garcia.

North Carolina State: The Cornhuskers and the Wolfpack have met twice, once in 1962 (a 19-14 win) and again in 1973 (31-14 rout). It’s been exactly 30 years since the two squads met. Feels like it’s time to start up this series again.

Wake Forest: Of the three ACC teams Nebraska football has only ever beaten, the Demon Deacons have the most defeats as NU is 3-0 vs. Wake. The two schools first met in 1970 (a 36-12 blowout) and then had a two-game series in the early 2000s. Nebraska won in 2005, 31-3 and then squeaked out a 20-17 win in 2007.
