Nebraska Cornhuskers starting quarterback Jeff Sims got a bit of love when talking about the best quarterbacks in the conference.
As we get closer and closer to the regular season, there are more and more lists coming out trying to predict exactly what we’re going to see this fall. One of those lists comes from television analyst Greg McElroy who recently put together a grouping of what he thinks are the best quarterbacks in the Big 10 this season.
While the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ new starting quarterback, Jeff Sims isn’t right at the top of that list, he’s in a spot that means things could be quite interesting for the Huskers this year.
McElroy has Sims listed as the fifth-best signal caller in the conference for the 2023 season. Michigan’s JJ McCarthy, Maryland’s Taulia Tagovailoa, Wisconsin’s Tanner Mordecai, and Iowa’s Cade McNamara are listed as the top four.
Certainly, if the Nebraska Cornhuskers are going to compete for a bowl game in 2023, they’re going to need top-notch quarterback play. McElroy is among those who believe they’ll get it.

- In the age of NIL, it should surprise no one that there is now even an energy drink that is geared around the Nebraska football team. - It’s not distinctly Nebraska football related but the news out of Northwestern could be the sign of things to come. The Wildcats announced on Friday they were suspending head coach Pat Fitzgerald for his role in a hazing incident in his program. He’s been suspended two weeks. It’s also possible this is far from the end of it.
#Northwestern has concluded its investigation of alleged hazing within the football program and found the claims to be credible. While there wasn't sufficient evidence coaches knew about the conduct, there were "significant opportunities to discover and report" what happened.
