The Nebraska football team might be on the cusp of nabbing yet another massive commitment in the form of an interior lineman out of Hawaii.

It’s been a long time since the Nebraska football team has been on the kind of roll it is right now. The 2024 recruiting class is inside the Top 20 on most of the recruiting services. Now it appears as though Matt Rhule and his staff could be on the cusp of landing another big recruit.

Preston Taumua is an interior offensive lineman out of Aiea, Hawaii who has more offers than most players out of his home state get. That’s especially the case when looking at the number of Power 5 offers he’s racked up.

Taumua is the top-ranked player in Hawaii and the 11th-ranked interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class. The 4-star prospect has offers from Alabama, Oregon, Auburn, Ohio State, Oklahoma and others including Nebraska football.

What’s been eyebrow-raising for Huskers fans in the last day, is that the Huskers are suddenly seen as the front runners. And even better than them suddenly being predicted to be the team to land one of the best offensive linemen is just who thinks Taumua is headed to Lincoln.

Nebraska football in good spot for Preston Taumua

Blair Angulo, 247Sports Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst is the only person who has made an official prediction on the offensive lineman. He’s predicted that the Nebraska football team is going to end up the victor.

The prediction by Angulo stands out because he’s not a Husker analyst who looks like a bit of a homer. He’s someone who knows that area of the country well. He knows the players.

He has an idea of where the Hawaii prospect might want to go and he thinks that might be Nebraska.

That would be a massive pickup for a Nebraska football staff that lost out on an offensive lineman in its own backyard in Caleb Pyfrom. Now it’s all about sitting and waiting and seeing if Angulo is right.
