The Nebraska football team continues to be on an insane roll and officially has one of the best 2024 recruiting classes in the country.
The Huskers have 22 commits in the 2024 class. That’s an accomplishment that Nebraska football fans simply aren’t used to seeing.
Over the last decade, the way that Nebraska football has built its classes is by getting onto the finalists list by the fall and then trying to lock most of their players down just ahead of signing day. This time around, the Huskers are locking down so many players in June, some are going to wonder if they’ll have room to take anyone once the fall rolls around.
Of course, if guys like Carlon Jones keep joining the Cornhuskers this summer, they won’t need to take anyone in the fall. Jones’ addition to the class means that Matt Rhule and his staff has the 2024 recruiting class squarely among the best in the country.
The class was already shooting way up the ranks, but the addition of Carlon Jones on Thursday means that among the 247Sports rankings, the Nebraska football team is sitting at 13th in the nation.

While Matt Rhule and his staff were moving up the list for the Texas defensive lineman, there wasn’t really an inkling that they would close the deal on Thursday. But close it they did.
And then they saw themselves solidify their standing. Ahead of Texas A&M. Ahead of North Carolina. Ahead of Ole Miss.
Just behind teams like Clemson, USC, and, weirdly enough, Stanford.
That the Huskers are ranked 5th in the Big Ten is more a testament to the strength of the top of the conference than anything else. It also shows that Matt Rhule is doing the right thing when it comes to trying to build up the Nebraska football team.
The Big Ten has five teams in the Top 15 classes in the country. The Cornhuskers are one of those five.
