The Nebraska football team looks like it’s beaten back all comers for the services of a Texas defensive line prospect in Carlon Jones.

As hot as Nebraska football’s recruiting has been for the last few weeks, it really shouldn’t be a surprise that the Huskers are viewed as the favorites for yet another talented Texas player. However, it’s becoming a bit surprising just how hot a streak head coach Matt Rhule and company are on right now.

It’s also worth pointing out that the latest prospect to get definitive crystal balls for the Nebraska isn’t a name that’s gotten as much mention as say … Carter Nelson. Or even Quinn Clark.

Carlon Jones didn’t come to Lincoln last weekend. Or even the weekend before. And yet, he’s now projected by 247Sports at the very least to end up a member of the Nebraska football team when the 2024 recruiting class smoke clears.

Nebraska football going strong for Carlon Jones

Carlon Jones is clearly looking to wrap up his recruiting before too long. Things have sped up for the 6-foot-2.5, 270 pound lineman. Since June 2, the Bay City product has taken five official visits. Those visits started with Nebraska football.

Oklahoma State, TCU, Cal, and Georgia Tech was next. In the middle of those visits he announced that the Huskers were among his favorites. Check out who commented on his post laying out his favorites:

Has there been a prospect that Daniel Kaelin has set his peer recruiting sites on that hasn’t ended up committing to the Nebraska football team at this point?

As of now, it’s not known when Carlon Jones is going to announce his commitment. Or even when he might pare down his list form six. But recruiting experts expect him to be a Husker. Could Nebraska football get at least one more win before fall camp starts at the end of next month?
