The Nebraska football team is going deep into Ohio State Buckeyes country with their latest offer to defensive lineman Dominic Kirks. The 3-star prospect announced he received an official offer on Monday afternoon. The offer signifies that Kirks’ profile is getting quite large and has been growing quickly over the last few weeks.

The rush end hails from Cleveland, Ohio and while Ohio State hasn’t come calling just yet, there are plenty of other Big Ten teams that have given him official offers. That includes Iowa and Wisconsin.

Before the Nebraska football team came calling, it even felt like the Badgers might be in the lead for Kirks’ services. Though it’s important to note that he hasn’t narrowed down his list of teams anywhere to where it appears he’s all that close to picking a team.

It’s possible that Kirks might not even choose a Big Ten school. He’s gotten quite a bit of attention from ACC schools like Pittsburgh and the Panthers have reportedly made a pretty good impression on the rush end.

The big question for the Huskers at this point, is whether or not they’ve entered the sweepstakes for the 6-foot-5, 250-pound defender. He’s been racking up offers for quite a while now and his stock has started going up at the same time that other programs are taking note.

There is also the question of whether or not the defender might be someone who is immediately gone if Ohio State does eventually come calling. One would hope that it taking this long for the Buckeyes to show any interest will be a negative.

The Nebraska football coaches certainly know about waiting just a bit too long to go after a prospect. The Huskers waited a bit too long to offer in-state prospect Teddy Rezac and lost him to Notre Dame. Now Matt Rhule and company will hope that Ryan Day and his coaches make the same mistake.
