The game is still months away but Colorado fans are already freaking out about the possibility of Nebraska football fans showing up en masse.

The game between the Buffaloes and the Huskers doesn’t take place until September 9. However, when it comes to the mental part of the sport, it appears that Nebraska football fans have certainly managed to get into Colorado fans’ heads.

The phrase “rent free” certainly seems to apply. Of course, there’s a good reason for that.

The last time Nebraska football made the trip to Boulder, things certainly didn’t work out the way Husker fans hoped. The end result – a second straight loss to CU – went down in spite of the fact that Nebraska fans traveled en masse. And there are more than a few Buffaloes fans that are already talking about stopping that this year. And if they can’t stop them, those same Buffs fans are looking to punish others if they can’t stop opposing fans.

“I plan on reporting to the ticket office any seats around me for the home opener that end up being occupied by Corn fans,” one particular Colorado fan wrote on Twitter. “Hope others will do the same & sellers won’t be able to renew next year. Thousands of CU fans waitlisted & shouldn’t be left out due to profiteers.”

The post sparked a discussion among CU fans with some agreeing with the original poster. Others thought the user, who goes by the name Buffnik, was going overboard.

Eventually Buffnik dropped the line that should echo through college football. It should certainly be quite the laugh line for Nebraska football fans as they once again pack the stadium this fall.

"“I don’t try to claw back my financial support by being party to turning a home game into a sea of red and I take issue with anyone who does. If that makes me a Karen, so be it.”"

When it comes to the age old rivalry between Nebraska football and Colorado it feels as though things have ramped up. That both teams have new coaches is just part of why.

Both men have gotten their fair share of hype but it’s more than that. It seems as though both fanbases see the Week 2 matchup as make or break. Nebraska football fans will almost certainly travel and make those Colorado Karens heads explode.
