The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team swept Penn State on Sunday and that means that they will indeed make the B1G baseball tournament.
The Nebraska baseball team had their season on the brink last weekend. There was some doubt that they would make the Big Ten Tournament.
Then they managed to sweep the Penn State Nittany Lions. It’s been a rather up-and-down 2023 so far, but it appears that Will Bolt’s boys are back on the upswing.
When the weekend started, the Huskers needed all the wins they could get. Then they won the series’ first game with the Nittany Lions thanks to a 19-5 victory. Saturday came and went, and another win meant that the Huskers were in very good standing.
On Sunday, a series sweep meant that the Nebraska Cornhuskers no longer have to worry about missing the conference tournament altogether. Now they can just focus on getting ready to win the whole thing.
The clinching win takes quite a bit of pressure off the next weekend series against Purdue as well. The Boilermakers are headed in the wrong direction and there’s still something to play for next weekend.
The Huskers can try and move up the standings from their fifth spot with a sweep of Purdue, as long as no one else ahead of them in the standings keeps winning at the ridiculous pace they are right now.
