Nebraska Football picked to end bowless streak in 2023
The Nebraska football team isn’t going to make it easy but at least one “way too early” list has the Huskers making a bowl game this season.
If the Nebraska football team were to win six games this year, it would be hard to claim this season was anything other than a massive success. Yes, there is a time not too long from now when six wins is going to be the absolute least the Huskers should get, but we’re not there yet.
Just this weekend, ESPN’s FPI ratings showed that the Nebraska football team is going to be hard-pressed to win those six games. But 247Sports’ Brad Crawford thinks Nebraska will indeed win six games and is headed to a bowl.
To be sure, the article doesn’t seem to think the Huskers are going to clear the bowl game hurdle with a ton of room to spare. Crawford has Nebraska football squaring off against Mississippi State in the Gasparilla Bowl.
Crawford feels that matchup would have quite a few fun things to watch should it come to be.
"Two first-year coaches meeting in Tampa to end the season? Seems like a job well done for both parties. For Nebraska, it marks a substantial development under Matt Rhule, who is tasked with bringing the Huskers back to respectability after the horrors under Scott Frost. Another team with a transfer starter under center, Georgia Tech’s Jeff Sims may finally get a chance to play in a bowl game."
Nebraska football going bowling?
Obviously, if Sims can actually get the Huskers to a bowl game, he’ll automatically become a folk hero in these parts. But there’s a long way before we’ll be able to see if that actually comes to pass.
It’s obviously hard to know where a team will play when it comes to bowl season, still about three months before the regular season. Still, it’s nice to see Nebraska football getting some national media love.
