The Nebraska football team has zeroed in on a new 2025 quarterback and it looks like they should probably be the top school for Blake Hebert.
The Nebraska football team’s spring practice is over and that means the coaches have the time to focus most of their attention on recruiting. To that end, the Huskers have gone out and offered a new quarterback prospect, though interestingly enough this offer very obviously doesn’t clash with their top 2024 target.
Blake Hebert is a new name for Nebraska football fans to get familiar with. He’s a 3-star prospect out of Lawrence, Massachusetts that hasn’t gotten a ton of attention from Power 5 schools just yet.
That could be a big boon for the Huskers as it’s possible Nebraska football is going to rocket to the top of his favorite schools quite quickly. At the moment, another Big Ten team is considered the favorite to land the signal caller.
The Nebraska football team is the fifth official offer for Blake Hebert, joining the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, UCONN, Umass, and Virginia. That offer list might worry some Husker fans because those aren’t exactly college football royalty.
It’s important to remember a couple of factors in that regard.
Nebraska football target Blake Hebert getting more attention
The first factor to remember when it comes to Blake Hebert is that he’s still a 2025 prospect, meaning things are going to ramp up a bit more this fall. It’s also worth pointing out that he’s already starting to draw more attention this month.
The Huskers’ offer on Monday comes just four days after Virginia came calling. It seems likely that more schools are going to be making offers in the very near future.
One thing that Nebraska football fans should know at this point is that a prospect not having a ton of offers when Rhule and company come calling doesn’t mean they someone like Hebert is a stretch. Omaha Central offensive lineman Caleb Pyfrom famously did not have a P5 offer when Nebraska made theirs. He’s got an absolute ton of Power programs wanting his services these days.
If Nebraska football does become the top school choice for Hebert now that they’ve offered, things do get rather interesting in the 2025 quarterback class. Pennsylvania prospect Stone Saunders has long been the Huskers’ top target in that class.
Is Matt Rhule looking to take a couple of quarterbacks in that class? Or is the writing on the wall for Saunders not coming to Lincoln? That’s another storyline to keep an eye on as recruiting for Blake Hebert rolls on.
