Nebraska Cornhuskers News: North Dakota State too much, Wisconsin comparison, more
The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team lost to a bad North Dakota State program that looked like a juggernaut on Wednesday. That and more in today’s news.
The Nebraska baseball team continued its up-and-down season on Wednesday night. This time, the season is very much down as the Huskers lost to North Dakota State 6-5.
That’s a loss to a North Dakota State team that improved to 16-26 on the season. Things are simply not going well in Will Bolt’s third full season. Considering this season, which looked like it was going to be pretty special for a while, follows a losing campaign, Bolt might be feeling the hotseat a bit right now.
There are still talented players on the Huskers. Chief among them are Brice Matthews who hit another two home runs tonight and who is still hitting over .400 on the season. But the pitching. Hoo boy, the pitching.
Reliever Kyle Perry got the start for … some reason on Wednesday and lasted just one inning as he allowed five hits, five runs, and walked a batter while striking out no one. The Bison scored one more run the rest of the game, but that was enough.
The Huskers, who are still third in the Big Ten, have a weekend series against 23rd-ranked Maryland. Win that series, and there’s still life. Lose it, and Nebraska baseball will have to wonder if Will Bolt is the right man for the job.
Nebraska football moms have fun
At a “Tackle My Son” event, Husker football moms were able to turn the tables on their sons and really feel what it’s like to take someone down.
Of course, the event was more than just tackling their sons. The moms also got taken through a literal film session that broke down those tackles. All of this was geared towards getting these moms to walk in the shoes of their sons, who will be playing for Nebraska football in the fall.

- It turns out that Nebraska and Wisconsin are trying to rebuild at the same time. Of course, the Badgers aren’t having to rebuild as much as the Huskers, but Sam McKewon believes there are more similarities than differences between the two programs.
