Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Caden Becker arrives, Palensky off to big season, more
Caden Becker was an interesting name when he surfaced, and now he’s a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. That and more in today’s news.
Former Wyoming quarterback Caden Becker’s little visit to the Nebraska football team was a bit of a surprise for Husker fans. At least that surprise led to him becoming a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers program on Monday afternoon.
However, Becker won’t be joining the Huskers as a scholarship player and he won’t be playing quarterback. He’d already shown to be open to a position change at Wyoming but decided he wanted to try and see if anyone out there would let him stay at QB.
It appears that despite committing to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, he won’t be in the quarterback room for them either. Instead, according to the Omaha World-Herald, he’ll be playing the same kind of fullback hybrid that Samiran Bonner made so famous in the spring game.
Nebraska football adds offensive line walkon
Weirdly enough, Caden Beckers wasn’t the only walkon they added on Monday. They also nabbed the 2023 offensive lineman David Borchers’s pledge out of Eldridge, Iowa.
Borchers is having a homecoming of sorts as the Huskers’ previous staff had offered him a scholarship last winter since he was a 3-star defensive lineman at the time. He also had offers from Iowa State and Army, but everyone sort of fell off.
Borchers was set to attend a junior college school, and then Matt Rhule and his staff reached back out and now he’s a Husker.
Other Nebraska Cornhuskers news
- Former Nebraska baseball star Aaron Palensky is off to a heck of a start to his 2023 season in the New York Yankees A+ team. On Monday, he hit his seventh homer of the season and is boastring a .404 batting average. It’s his third season a pro baseball player and certainly seems like he’s going to get promoted sometime soon.
