Nebraska football recruiting continues to keep up a Texas presence as it’s offered another of the state’s speedier players in Ernest Campbell.

Now that the spring game is over, Nebraska football recruiting can turn its attention to bringing in the next class full time. To that end the Huskers came up with another official offer to a speedster from the state of Texas.

Ernest Campbell isn’t at the top of the list of prospects in the Lone State state but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a ton of talent. He’s also got some talents that Nebraska football recruiting has found quite attractive since Rhule arrived in Lincoln.

Campbell announced the Huskers were at least the 16th team to come calling with an official offer late Saturday night. The fact that there are quite a few teams after him isn’t the whole story. The schools that are after him are some of the best in college football.

Penn State, Oregon and Texas A&M are among the biggest of the big. Though it doesn’t appear that’s scaring off Nebraska football recruiting efforts. Rhule and his staff have made it very clear they want to set up a Texas pipeline. It appears they are indeed having some success doing so.

If the Cornhuskers want to win over Ernest Campbell they have some other Texas teams they’re going to have to beat out. At the moment it appears TCU and Baylor are the front runners.

The first key is going to be convincing the 3-star receiver to leave Big 12 country. Clearly it’s not thought to be an impossible task considering how many schools from outside his home school conference have come calling.

Nebraska football recruiting’s next steps will be trying to get Ernest Campbell into Lincoln. It’s worth noting that come this summer; new rules will allow players to take as many official visits as they want. The Huskers might benefit quite a bit from that.
