Nebraska football recruiting has turned its attention to at least one more transfer player, as Georgia defensive lineman Bear Alexander is on the Huskers’ radar. The question now is just how much interest the big defensive lineman has in Matt Rhule and company.

Nebraska football recruiting efforts seemed to focus in on Alexander quickly. That certainly makes sense since the Huskers have had quite a bit of success pulling players from the Bulldogs when they decided they wanted to look elsewhere. But will those efforts mean that the Cornhuskers are able to get another player from the two-time defending national champion?

Recruiting analyst Hayes Fawcett took to Twitter earlier this week to shed some light on who Bear Alexander heard from so far. That Nebraska football recruiting is right at the top of the list shouldn’t be all that surprising. Nor should most of the other teams that came calling so far.

In addition to the Huskers, the now-former Georgia Bulldog defensive lineman said he’s talked to Arizona State, Wyoming, Memphis, Penn State, SMU, Purdue, Texas, Colorado, Miami, Florida, Oregon, Jackson State, Houston, Texas Tech, USC and Oklahoma.

That’s quite the motley crew of teams that have shown some genuine interest in a defensive lineman who is expected to have quite a bit of talent but so far hasn’t gotten much in the way of playing time.

Alexander finished the 2023 campaign with just nine tackles but he also grabbed two sacks. One of those sacks came in the National Championship game against TCU. That’s one of the reasons people were quite surprised when he announced he was leaving Athens, Georgia.

When it comes to Nebraska football recruiting, it’s not clear what the next step is going to be. While the spring game is a big recruiting tool for Matt Rhule and company, it doesn’t appear that Alexander will be in Lincoln for that game. When he might pay, a visit is still very much up in the air.
