Has Nebraska football officially lost out on the Dylan Raiola sweepstakes? Some new reports surfacing on Monday morning seem to hint as though the quarterback going to Georgia is all but a done deal.

There are a couple of different factors that are playing into pessimism floating around Nebraska football in the last 24 hours. The biggest one seems to be a new set of “Crystal Balls” that have been entered by recruiting experts for someone who many people believe will be a future teammate of Raiola’s.

5-star wide receiver Ryan Wingo received a couple of predictions that he’ll be committing to Georgia. It doesn’t help that the two guys who have predicted that Wingo will now go to the Bulldogs are the most accurate guys on 247Sports.

Pair those predictions with all the nice things that Raiola has been saying about the Georgia coaches. It certainly doesn’t feel like a stretch to say that the quarterback will likely be leaving Nebraska football in the dust.

Rumors have sparked up in the last day or so that it’s not even that Nebraska football will be left in the dust but that they already have. There’s a lot of talk around the internet that Raiola is already a silent commit to Georgia.

I can believe that the 5-star prospect might pick the back-to-back national champion over the Huskers. That doesn’t really seem like a stretch. But I’m not sure a silent commit is this kid’s style.

He’s someone who has always struck me as being forthcoming about where he stands. He certainly didn’t need to decommit from Ohio State when he did. Once the rumors were out there that he might be wavering, he didn’t leave Buckeye faithful hanging for long.

Of course, it’s possible that means the rumors that he’s headed to Athens, Georgia just means he’ll make it official in the next few days.

There is a definite sense of dread around Nebraska football faithful right now. There aren’t many who think the Huskers are going to come out victorious. That might be the most significant sign of all that things are over. It wasn’t all that long ago that more than a few people thought Raiola was committing to Nebraska football before the end of March.

For now, it’s all about a game of “wait and see.” Nebraska football might be on life support, but they aren’t dead quite yet.
