Nebraska football has inside track on Idaho 4-star receiver
The Nebraska football team is looking like it’s the team to beat when it comes to land 4-star wide receiver Gatlin Bair, who just announced his Top 5.
Gatlin Bair is one of those players that might not get a ton of run nationally because of where he’s located. It’s true that the top player in the state of Idaho isn’t always someone that top programs like Nebraska football are always on the hunt for. However, when it comes to this particular top player in the state, there are all kinds of big time programs that are hoping to reel him in.
That’s why when Bair announced on social media on Sunday that he’d pared down his list of teams he’s considering, it was undoubtedly a good sign that Nebraska football is still among the contenders.
Now the Huskers will have to do battle with the likes of Michigan, Oregon, Boise State and TCU in order to win the receiver over. However, it appears that at least to a few recruiting experts, there isn’t really much of a battle left to be fought.
On3 currently pegs the Nebraska football team with having a 91.9 percent chance of winning the commitment of Bair. Second place when it comes to that site’s experts is Utah, a school that the player himself has announced really isn’t in the running anymore. Boise State is a rather distant third at the moment with a 1.4 percent chance of keeping the player in his home state.
When looking at what Gatlin Bair had to say about his final five schools to 247Sports, it’s hard not to agree that it feels like he’s leaning hard towards the Nebraska football team. When he broke down all the teams that were still in the running, he tended to talk about where he saw himself fitting in their offense. When his attention turned to the Huskers, it was about more than that.
"“I really like the people at Nebraska and Lincoln itself. Coach (Matt) Rhule and the entire staff have a great vision for the program.”"
Now that the Idaho receiver has pared down his list, it’s going to be all about closing the door. If Nebraska football can haul him in quickly, it could even set off some chain reactions on some of the other big prospects they’ve set their sights on.
