Former Nebraska football wide receiver Alante Brown has seen the offers start to roll in from all over the country after entering the portal on Saturday.

It hasn’t been much of a secret that things weren’t vibing all that well between Matt Rhule’s staff and wide receiver Alante Brown. Knowing that, his entering the transfer portal when it opened on Saturday was far from a shock.

While there are times when a player can think he knows that the grass is going to be greener on the other side and then finds out that there is no other side at all, it doesn’t appear that’s going to be the case for Alante.

The former Nebraska football player has already logged at least three offers from FBS schools. There will likely be more coming by the hour, if not the day. Of the three teams that Brown said have offered, the most intriguing of the group has to be Liberty. That school is also the first to come calling since the receiver entered the portal.

Liberty’s offense has been quite the high-scoring affair of late, and it would certainly be interesting to see what Brown might be able to do if he could basically rebuild his college football career with that team. Of course, the school is trying to rebuild itself a bit after losing head coach Hugh Freeze to Ole Miss.

On the other hand, the new head man, Jamey Chadwell, has shown he knows how to put together an explosive offense.  His reputation for offensive explosion even had him – however briefly – getting mentions as a possible Nebraska football head coach candidate.

In addition to Liberty, Brown says that the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes and Miami of Ohio have come calling.

Alante Brown never quite put up the numbers Nebraska football fans were hoping to see but he did have his best season in 2022. Last year he hauled down 16 catches for 191 yards after totaling just six receptions in his first two years in Lincoln.
