Nebraska Football Recruiting: Omaha offensive tackle impressed by Huskers practice
Nebraska football recruiting continues working on getting one of the top offensive linemen in the state to become a Husker.
While the Huskers were the first team to come calling for Caleb Pyfrom, it appears that the Omaha Central offensive lineman isn’t letting that dictate where he goes to college. At the same time, Matt Rhule and company are still making some inroads for the talented 2024 prospect. That includes letting him come to Saturday’s practice and check out just how the new coaching staff is doing things.
Pyfrom went to Lincoln this weekend and it appears that the Huskers did show him something he liked. It’s something that’s likely going to get plenty of talk over the next few weeks.
“I have never seen live QBs in practice,” Pyfrom told On3. “There was a lot of contact. Everyone was working hard. It was really good to see it”
The offensive tackle also liked what he saw from the unit he’d be playing with if Nebraska football recruiting efforts pan out. Pyfrom said when he was watching, they were able to punch it in anytime the offense got near the goalline, thanks to the talent up front.
Nebraska Football Recruiting looking for Caleb Pyfrom commitment
While the offensive lineman was clearly impressed with what he saw from the Huskers on Saturday, there’s apparently still work to do. Depending on who you talk to, Nebraska football is either the front-runner by a slim margin or trailing by a few degrees.
The fact that Iowa looks to be the main competitor should drive more than a few Husker fans a little crazy. It’s also a safe bet that how things stand now doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how they will shake out.
It appears that Pyfrom has some plans for how he’s going to finish up his recruiting before signing day this coming winter. That includes getting back to see what else Nebraska football has to offer before the fall.
