Nebraska football recruiting efforts got a bit of a challenge for one of the top players in the state, and they’ll need the luck of the Irish to beat them off. The problem there of course, is the fact that the Huskers are going up against none other than the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the services of Omaha Westside’s Christian Jones.

Christian Jones might not be a household name among Nebraska football recruiting fans just yet but that’s going to change and it’s going to change soon. The linebacker is a member of the 2025 recruiting class and is going to be considered one of, if not the best player in the state for his class. It appears that the pattern of some of the best players in the state getting pursued by the best schools in the country is not stopping anytime soon.

Jones is still starting to see attention from other programs ramp up. It ramped up this weekend when the Omaha Westside prospect announced Notre Dame made an official offer. That makes a total of 11 teams that have decided to try and get Jones to come to their program. It just so happens that the Irish are one of the only teams outside the Big 10 and Big 12 that have stepped up.

Alongside Nebraska football and Notre Dame, Jones now has offers from Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, Stanford, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and USC. That obviously means the Huskers already have a ton of competition for Christian Jones.

While there isn’t a consensus rating for the linebacker, On3 has him looking like he’ll be at least a 4-star prospect. That’s thanks to a 60-tackle campaign in his sophomore season, which includes two fumbles, fumble recoveries, and three sacks.

He also was a decent offensive weapon for Westside, hauling down six receptions for 43 yards and a touchdown. At the moment, Nebraska football is the clear favorite to win over the prospect but there is quite a bit of time left before he’s allowed to sign on the dotted line.
