Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Hail Varsity gets a tuneup, fear Ameer, more
When the Nebraska Cornhuskers take the field next season, it appears there are going to be some changes to the school’s fight song. The music to Hail Varsity is known quite well to Husker fans, but it’s become clear over the years that the words to the song aren’t as popular. In fact, it’s quite obvious that there are people who didn’t know there are words to the song at all.
Leaders of the Nebraska Cornhuskers program aren’t making big changes. This isn’t a rewriting of the song in any way, shape or form.
However, there is a goal here. The school says that they want people to actually sing along and really get into the school spirit at the next Nebraska football game.
The lyrics don’t have big changes. But there are subtle ones that the leadership hopes will make fans engage more. Just how much engagement there will be, or that the lyrics changes are even enough to matter will be seen this fall.
Other Nebraska Cornhuskers news
- Ameer Abdullah hasn’t had the most productive NFL career of former Nebraska Cornhuskers players, but he’s managed to carve himself out quite the niche. On Friday, it was announced that the Las Vegas Raiders resigned the former Husker. That means it looks like he’s poised for at least an 11th year in the NFL.
- The Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team continues to roll since their season-opening series loss to San Diego. The 8-3 win over Illinois State on Friday improved Will Bolt’s boys to 8-4-1 on the season. They’ve gone 8-1 since that first series with their only loss being to fourth-ranked Ole Miss.
- While Max Duggan never got the chance to be a former member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, one of his old teammates is a member of the squad. Thomas Fidone played alongside Duggan and recently talked about how fun it was to see his old quarterback have so much success for TCU this year.
