Anyone who has traveled around the country and really around the world knows that there is really only one truism in this life. Nebraska football fans will not miss an opportunity to discuss the Huskers, even (maybe even especially) if it’s with random strangers.

One Nebraska football fan, currently known only to the internet as “Bill” proved this particular truism after reportedly almost falling off a mountain, getting rescued, and telling his apparent rescuer that he just hopes that the Huskers can actually improve this year, even if the program isn’t able to get back to the Tom Osborne era level of success.

Still feeling rather down after last night’s horrendous, awful loss by Nebrasketball; I spent some early morning hours looking for some way to snap me out of my funk. And then I ran across the story of Bill.

Michael Sterk, better known as Barstool Carl to his many followers, told a tale about one Nebraska football fan he ran across while Sterk and his wife were out in Arizona doing a little mountain climbing. According to the social media star, Bill almost fell off a cliff and did fall about 70 feet before Sterk was able to intervene and stopped him from falling the rest of the way.

"“I had to reach down and pull him up like a scene from mission impossible. He’a going to the hospital. His wife was so p—. He fell approximately 70 feet, mostly sharp and steep rock formation. All he wants is a beer”"

In order to demonstrate that his story was not a tall tale, Barstool Carl posted a picture of the pair and Bill did indeed look like someone who was battered and bloodied.

In a subsequent post, the social media personality tweeted that after sharing that he really just wanted a beer, his thoughts turned to Nebraska football.

"“He would like to see Nebraska football improve this year. They don’t have to be the Osborne years but Callahan era seems so distant. Not a huge baseball fan. Been married 35 years to Jane.”"

In a later tweet, Sterk posted a video where he talked about how he was still feeling quite a bit of adrenaline after the episode. He also showed off a scratch on his arm that he apparently got while rescuing the Husker fan from falling to his possible death.

Here’s to Bill, Barstool Carl, and the Nebraska football team improving this year.
