There was a point this past weekend when Nebraska football fans were convinced Dylan Raiola was just a few hours away from officially becoming a Cornhusker. Even those who knew he wasn’t to commit on this special trip to Lincoln have been quite excited about how close its seemed to being a done deal. But what if its not really that close at all?

Since Raiola returned to Nebraska football’s radar in a big way, it’s been the prevailing theory that if the Huskers want to haul in the top quarterback in the 2024 class, they’re going to need to beat out Georgia. There’s also been some worry here and there that USC could prove to be a problem. But what if there’s a fourth team that is starting to look really, really good to the Husker legacy?

Raiola recently talked about his plans for March and beyond and there were more than a few comments that might worry Nebraska football followers. Right at the top of the list is that the quarterback “definitely” wants to go up to Oregon and meet with the coaching staff there.

Raiola is certainly well within his rights to want to check out as many schools as possible. But considering that there was a widely held believe that the quarterback had at the very least, trimmed his list to three, a fourth team being there might cause some Nebraska football brows to furrow.

Even if Oregon stays in the background, Raiola’s recent comments to On3 paint a picture of a player that really isn’t anywhere close to picking a school. The 2024 class’s top quarterback made quite a few comments that point to a more drawn out process than Husker fans were hoping for.

"“I kind of just feel when it’s the right time, that will present itself. I’m just being patient, doing all my research and my due diligence so that I can make the best decision possible for myself and really just for my whole family.”"

The good news is that Nebraska football will get plenty of say before the “time is right.” The bad news is that the Oregon Ducks and other, might be closer to winning him over than Cornhusker fans had hoped.
