Nebraska Cornhuskers News: Baseball rolls, Derrick Walker absence, more
It was a very good weekend for the Nebraska Cornhuskers athletic program. Right at the top list of the list of things that went well was the baseball team managed to right the ship.
After starting off their season 0-3-1, including blowing a 16-10 lead in the final inning of the final game against San Diego, the turned around and swept South Alabama on the road. Not only did they beat them, but the last two games weren’t even really all that competitive.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers won the Saturday matchup 15-4 and then won on Saturday 9-3. The Huskers also showed off the ability to hit the long ball, launching four homers in the series’ final game. There was also the fact that the bullpen, which was much maligned last weekend was pretty darn good against the Jaguars.
The wins over the weekend brought the Nebraska baseball team to 3-3-1 and gave them a bit of a reset for the rest of the year.
Other Nebraska Cornhuskers news

- While Walker had to overcome some adversity, Sam Griesel has been thoroughly enjoying his only season as a member of the Nebraska basketball team. And that was even before the Huskers started looking like a winning program.
- A big part of Saturday was the focus on Keisei Tominaga’s parents, who came to watch their son play for the first time as a member of the Huskers. On Sunday, Keisei’s dad issued a thank you to Nebraska Cornhuskers fans who welcomed he and his wife with very open arms.
