Nebraska Football Recruiting: Dylan Raiola Georgia rumors shot down
Nebraska football recruiting followers got very excited in the last week about some rumors that were flying around social media that seemed to indicate that when it comes to Dylan Raiola, the Georgia Bulldogs were officially out of the picture.
It certainly makes sense why Nebraska football fans want the Bulldogs off the scene. Georgia is, after all, the two-time defending national champion. Playing quarterback for the top prospect in the 2024 class has to be attractive.
However, there have been rumblings for a few weeks now that Georgia might have backed off Raiola. And then there was the rumor that he even canceled a planned March 18 visit to Athens.
The problem is that rumors he canceled his visit seem to come from a report that said Dylan Raiola’s visit to Georgia “wasn’t a lock.” Nebraska football recruiting enthusiasts decided that meant it was definitely off.

Anyone who has spent any time at all on social media knows that once a rumor like this starts, it’s hard to stop it in its tracks. One person tweets it, then another person, wanting to look like they have social media clout decides to tweet it out on their own, rather than crediting the person they heard it from or just retweeting the post they saw.

As it turns out, the hopes that Georgia was entirely out of the picture for the top quarterback in the 2024 class were a bit misplaced. It turns out that he does indeed plan on going to Athens next month. He’ll be making that visit one week before he comes to Lincoln.
So what does all this mean? In a nutshell, it means that nothing has really changed.
Dylan Raiola is likely going to be choosing between the defending national champs, a USC Trojans team that has the odds on favorite to win the Heisman in 2023. And then there’s the Nebraska football recruiting efforts. For now, it still seems like the Huskers are right there. There may even be the front runners. It certainly seems as though the picture will get clearer towards the end of next month. But for now at least, a rather scary adversary has not been cleared off the road.
