Nebraska basketball fans have no pity for Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard after he complains about having to play in the same conference as Texas

Granted, anyone who has to deal with Texas probably deserves a little pity. But Pollard made sure that Nebraska basketball fans mostly just felt smug satisfaction when he took to the airwaves to complain about the Longhorns while stating that in his view, Texas “couldn’t leave fast enough.”

The Iowa State athletic director voiced his frustration over the way the Big 12 media rights are currently set up in a way that his Cyclones basketball team had to have their most recent game against Texas televised on the Longhorn network.

He was asked his reaction to that development and his response was both short and sweet.

"“Can’t leave soon enough.”"

Pollard was, of course, talking about Texas leaving the Big 12 in 2024 for the SEC. Once they do leave, a new TV deal and one that won’t be nearly as heavily weighted monetarily towards Texas will be put in place.

After his comments, the radio hosts he was talking to started laughing and then Pollard asked if that “answered their questions.”

To be fair, Nebraska basketball and Nebraska football fans certainly understand the desire to get away from Texas. It was that desire that led them to leave the Big 12 and head to what they thought would be greener pastures in the Big Ten.

And Nebraska football and Nebraska basketball and Nebraska fans, in general, took endless crap for leaving the Big 12. Several fans pointed that out after the audio of Pollard started making the rounds on social media on Wednesday.

Other Husker fans had very similar opinions with more than a few on message boards and social media making it clear that anyone remaining in the Big 12 didn’t have much room to complain about Texas.

There were also plenty of Texas fans who pointed out that the Longhorns pull and money has benefitted smaller schools like ISU for years.

What is clear is that while things are getting a bit saltier for the Big 12 as it starts to undergo a big breakup, Nebraska basketball fans can just sit back and enjoy what has been a rather surprisingly enjoyable season over in the Big Ten. We certainly understand the desire to get away from Texas. On that pretty much anyone who isn’t a Longhorns fan can agree.
