The Nebraska women’s basketball team had a very bad week that might have ended its chances at any kind of postseason at all.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team had about as bad a week as it possibly could. Not only did the team go 0-2, but it continued a losing streak at the worst possible time of the year.

Things went so poorly, as a matter of fact, that a team that looked like it might still have a chance to be a bubble team has basically ended any chance of making the NCAA Tournament other than pulling off quite a miracle run in the Big Ten Tournament.

Grading the Nebraska women’s basketball team: Week of 2/13 to 2/19

The Huskers started the week against a Minnesota Golden Gophers squad that was just 2-12 in the conference before taking on the Cornhuskers. Minnesota ended up shooting over 50 percent from the field and scoring a whopping 95 points.

The Gophers have only scored more than that three times this season and only once in the Big Ten. The 95-92 loss was the kind of game that threw that last shovel full of dirt on the Nebraska women’s basketball team’s chances of making the postseason. And then the Huskers followed that up with another loss.

In a game that was billed as being the biggest of the season, the Huskers went out of their way to try and get as many people as possible in attendance for their weekend tilt against Iowa. They did in fact get the biggest attendance number is quite some time. However, they still lost in blowout fashion, 80-60. It was a bad, bad week at the exact wrong time.

It seems as if the grind of the Nebraska women’s basketball season and trying to overcome key injuries has ground the team down something fierce.

F. . . Overall Grade.

Nebraska women’s basketball upcoming major game

While the Cornhuskers are reduced to spoilers at this point, they can indeed spoil some other team’s season hopes. On Wednesday, Amy Williams and company will take on the 20-7 Illinois Fighting Illini.

Should the Nebraska women’s basketball team manage to pull off that upset, it would at least be a nice way to close out the 2022-2023 regular season.
