Nebraska basketball star Keisei Tominaga obliterated what his career high of points scored in a big win against Penn State was.

The Nebraska basketball team came into the game against the Penn State Nittany Lions desperately needing a spark. Keisei Tominaga provided said needed spark.

The Huskers entered Sunday on a four-game losing streak thanks in no small part to the injuries to both Juwan Gary and Emmanuel Bandoumel. At times, it’s even looked as though the Nebraska basketball team was playing with a little less energy knowing that their backs were against the wall.

On Sunday, there was no absence of energy. There was no quit. And Keisei Tominaga scored a career-high 30 points and led the charge just one week after he was taken out of the starting lineup.

Nebraska Basketball builds off Keisei Tominaga’s big day

It is worth pointing out that Keisei wasn’t the only reason the Nebraska basketball team won its 11th game of the season for the first time under head coach Fred Hoiberg.

Derrick Walker especially had a very good game, even if it was overshadowed a bit by Keisei’s 30 points. The big man, who has had his fair share of games depend entirely on him scored just nine points, but he also had six rebounds and seven assists.

More than a few of those assists were dishes to Tominaga when he was cutting to the hoop. In fact, the Walker to Tominaga show is one of the most entertaining for Nebrasketball in recent memory.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Huskers 72-63 win over Penn State is that the Nittany Lions had their own star go off. Seth Lundy, who scored 15 against the Cornhuskers the last time the two teams matched up, scored 24 on Sunday thanks to 8-for-13 shooting from beyond the arc.

He was joined by Jalen Pickett who scored 15 and Andrew Funk who had 14.

Next up for Nebraska basketball is another chance to pull off a big upset and play spoiler in the Big Ten standings as they’ll match up against a Michigan team that has had some struggles so far this season.
