Senior Bowl 2023 rosters: Which Nebraska Cornhuskers are playing
The Senior Bowl 2023 is essentially the end of the college football career for dozens of players all over the country. It’s the last game many of them will have a chance to play with at least a few teammates (if they are lucky) and the last chance to see a few conference rivals at the same time.
The Senior Bowl is of course, a chance for guys like Nebraska football stars to show off what they can do when they are playing against the best of the best of the players who could be going onto the next level.
The Senior Bowl might not have the hype it once did. There was a time, before college players were able to enter the draft early, when this was the game to watch to see what college seniors were going to be moving onto the NFL. While the hype has been diminished a bit considering guys like CJ Stroud and Bryce Young won’t be able to play in it, even if they wanted to, it should still hold a special place for Nebraska football and college football fans in general.
This year, there is an added bonus for Nebraska Cornhuskers fans to tune in when the Senior Bowl airs on Saturday, February 4, on the NFL Network.
Senior Bowl 2023 rosters: Which Nebraska Cornhuskers are playing
It turns out that this year, there is only one Husker on the Senior Bowl roster. That player is wide receiver Trey Palmer, who announced he was going pro shortly after Matt Rhule came to town.
Palmer will play for the National Team (facing off against the American Team) and while there aren’t any other Nebraska Cornhuskers on the roster, he will get to play alongside a couple of Big Ten alums.
Defensive backs Sydney Brown and Jartavious Martin from Illinois, Riley Moss and Kaevon Merriweather from Iowa, Jakorian Bennett of Maryland and Ronnie Hickman from Ohio State will all be patrolling the secondary for the American Team.
Northwestern’s Adetomiwa Adebawore and Wisconsin’s Keeanu Benton will man the defensive front and Indiana’s Cam Jones will be the conference’s lone linebacker on the Senior Bowl roster.
The offensive line is well represented on the National Team’s roster by the B1G with Michigan’s Olusegun Oluwatimi and Ryan Hayes as well as Maryland’s Jaelyn Duncan.
As far as offensive skill players, Nebraska Cornhuskers star Trey Palmer will be joined most notably by Illinois’ Chase Brown and Michigan State’s Jayden Reed. In all the Senior Bowl National Squad has 21 players from the Big Ten.
