Sua Lefotu is the latest big win for Nebraska football recruiting and he’s a big win just ahead of National Signing Day 2023. The defensive lineman from California shows that Matt Rhule and company are still having quite a bit of success recruiting all over the country.
That wasn’t really the case when it came to Scott Frost and his group. Whether or not the ability to pull players from all over the country is going to turn the program around is still very much an open question.
But there isn’t a question as to whether or not grabbing Sua Lefotu was a big win on a Saturday afternoon that was otherwise not great for Nebraska Cornhusker fans. That’s likely why there was such a big focus once the 3-star prospect announced he was pulling the trigger for the Huskers.
Husker fans and media on social media certainly had their say about what the commitment meant for the player and for the school. There was also plenty of talk about what it might mean in the very near future for the program.

Other commits were quick to reach out to the newest commit and welcome him to the Nebraska football family.
Some pointed out the insane job Nebraska football recruiting has been doing since Matt Rhule arrived in town.

The new commitment reminded some of when Mike Riley was trying to set up a California pipeline and called it Calibraska.
The win for Nebraska football recruiting is one that means the Huskers class just continues to get better, despite the fact that it was crumbling at the seams when Matt Rhule took over. Mickey Joseph did everything he could to keep things moving forwards as the interim head coach, but things weren’t looking great.
The excitement of Matt Rhule and his energetic staff that seem to love recruiting has led to big time success and a sense of awe on social media.
